Asif's hearing likely on June 15

By Staff

Dubai, Jun 12 (UNI) Detained Pakistan pacer Mohammad Asif will have to wait till June 15 before the Dubai Attorney-General conducts the hearing of his case.

''There has been no development on the Asif front as yet and we are expecting the Attorney-General to handle the case on Sunday after going through the prosecutor's report,'' an official of the Pakistan embassy told mediapersons here today.

''Maybe he might even take a decision the same day on whether to charge Asif or release or deport him,'' he added.

The official further informed that following the departure of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) human resources director Nadeem Akram, the embassy has designated a consular to follow the case and assist Asif.

Asif was detained at the Dubai airport on June 1 while returning to Lahore from Mumbai after a prohibited substance was recovered from his wallet.
