WFP sends 35 tons packaged food for Myanmar
Bangalore, June 10, 2008: United Nations World Food Programme has airlifted 35 tonnes of food to cyclone-hit Myanmar.
As part of the humanitarian assistance to Cyclone Nargis devastated areas of Myanmar, the WFP, in collaboration with an Indian manufacturer MTR, has sent the ready-to-eat food to save thousands of malnourished children. The United Nations estimates that a total of 2.4 million people were affected by Cyclone Nargis.
