Haveri, Karnataka, Jun 11: The situation in riot torn Haveri Town, where a farmer was killed in police firing yesterday, remained peaceful with no untoward incident reported since last night. Three farmers sustained bullet injuries and 24 people including 16 police personnel were injured when agitating farmers turned violent when they were denied supply of fertilisers.
Prohibitory orders under section 144 Crpc clamped since yesterday evening would be in force till tomorrow evening. Siddalingappa Churi, who was killed on the spot when police opened fire at stone pelting farmers group near Haveri Bus station, another 5 including a labour and a vendor injured in the firing have been shifted to Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Hubli, where the condition of one was stated to be critical. Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa will be visiting the town today to take stock of the situation personally.
Meanwhile, Ministers C M Udashi and Basavaraj Bommai visited KIMS and consoled the injured.
