Sensex gains 296 pts, closes at 15,185

{image-sensex, big_11062008.jpg www.oneindia.com}Mumbai, June 11: Snapping a three-day long falling streak, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex closed the day above 15k level with a gain of over 296 points as sectors such as capital goods, realty and banks attracted buyers.

The 30-share Sensex, which had lost nearly 875 points in the last three days, bounced back to gain 296.07 points at 15,185.32. The key index touched the day's low of 15,009.48 and a high of 15,225.81 points during the day. Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty rose by 73.80 points at 4,523.60, after touching the day's low of 4,468.05 and high of 4,541.05 points. According to marketmen, major markets players are now of the view that steep falls this week was over-done and they with returned to the market.

Among the index-linked stocks, Bhel rose by 7 per cent, Reliance Industries by 2.76 per cent, HDFC Ltd by 4.10 per cent, HDFC Bank by 4.74 per cent, SBI by 2.38 per cent, DLF Ltd. By 6.53 per cent, ACC by 3.09 per cent and Jayprakash Associate by 3.39 per cent.

Among sectorial indices, capital goods index gained the most by 283.92 points at 11,901.49 followed by realty index by 173.05 points at 5803.66.

Banking index rose by 156.09 points at 7018.42, oil and gas index by 141.02 points at 9832.24, metal index by 134.88 points at 15,400.80, PSU index by 112.93 points at 6503.21, it index by 73.47 points at 4357.43 and Teck index by 49.80 points at 3372.97
