Dubai, Jun 11 (UNI) As if losing to arch-rivals India by a massive 140-run margin was not enough, Pakistan were fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during the tri-series match here.

ICC Match Referee Jeff Crowe imposed the fine after Pakistan were ruled to be two overs short of the target when time allowances were taken into consideration.

Captain Shoaib Malik was fined 20 per cent of his match fees while each of his players received 10 per cent fines.

In accordance with the ICC Code of Conduct regulations governing over-rate penalties, players are fined five per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.

''Although there was a rain interruption late in the innings, which always makes it difficult to keep the overs flowing, Pakistan only bowled 13 overs by the first drinks break and never managed to recover that deficit,'' Crowe said.
