Srinagar Jun 11 (UNI) One woman committed suicide while another made a similar attempt in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said today.
They said 32-year-old Naseema Begum consumed some poisonous substance in her Papchan, Bandipora, house in north Kashmir district of Baramulla.
She was immediately shifted to hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.
In a similar case 22-year-old Asha Begum took poison in her Malangam house. However, her family members immediately took her to hospital where her condition was stated to be critical.
The trend of commiting suicide in the valley had increased in the recent past despite a fatwa by muslim ulmas against it.
The ulmas declared it an unislamic act. At an average of one to two people, mostly women, were committing or making attempt to commit suicide in the valley.
