Lottery to decide fate of Haj goers in Uttar Pradesh
Kanpur, Jun 11: Amending its previous decision regarding the selection of Haj pilgrims, Uttar Pradesh Haj Committee has included people above 75 years in the lottery system. The national president of Khuddam Haj Committee, Uttar Pradesh Naimuddin Siddqui here today said fate of the aged persons of 76 and onwards would also be decided through lottery at Lucknow on June 21.
Mr Siddiqui said this year the Uttar Pradesh quota has been fixed to 30,090 of which 1,860 applicants are from Kanpur city, while 40 applicants from Kanpur dehat district. Expressed concern over the limited quota for UP, he said the state Haj committee had been asked to increase the state quota this year.
