Mumbai, Jun 11 (UNI) The city's lakes have received more amount of rainfall till today in the first six days of the monsoon than during the same period last year.
According to BMC officials, except Bhatsa, which has received 66 mm of rainfall so far as compared to 74 mm last year, the other lakes have received much higher rainfall this year.
Modak Sagar received 79 mm as compared to 68 mm last year, Tansa received 97 mm as compared to 54 mm last year, Vihar received 330 mm as compared to 25 mm last year, Tulsi received 233 mm against 34 mm last year and Upper Vaitarna received 118 mm as compared to 114 mm last year.
Similarly, the lakes received higher amount of rainfall in last 24 hours ending this morning, as compared to the same period last year.
Modak Sagar received 20 mm rainfall as compared to one mm last year, Tansa received 27 mm, Vihar received 41 mm, Tulsi received 35 mm, Upper Vaitarna received 16 mm and Bhatsa received 18 mm as compared to no rainfall last year, the officials added.
Meanwhile, the water level of Modak Sagar lake was measured at 148.81 meters, Tansa (120.39 mts), Vihar (74.45 mts), Tulsi (134.60 mts), Upper Vaitarna (594.90 mts) and Bhatsa (96.60 mts).
