Human development to free society of poverty : Ansari
Patna, Jun 11 (UNI) Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari today emphasised on emulating emperor Chandragupta Maurya's principles of social justice and management for eradicating poverty from society.
Inaugurating the Bihar chapter of 'Chandragupta Institute of Management-Patna' (CIMP), Dr Ansari said, ''As the development of human resources is a daunting task, Bihar is lagging far behind the national average on various counts and has largely suffered due to migration of its best qualities for diversified education.'' He said the establishment of CIMP, a premier management institute on the line of IIM, Ahmedabad, would bridge the gap between management studies and business education by raising their profiles and research facilities.
Referring to Chandragupta Mauryas principles of management - ''Sukhasya Moolam Dharmam, Dharmasya moolam arthah'' (the basis of happiness is ethics and the basis of ethics is resources), the Vice- President said these principles were greatly relevant even in the present context of public administration and corporate management.
''Good governance can also be attained by encouraging quality management education and entrepreneurship,'' he pointed out.
Outlining the ''glorious past of Bihar'', particularly in the field of education, Dr Ansari said the state was home to the ancient centres of excellence of Nalanda and Vikramshila and lauded the 'sincere efforts' of the state government in reviving its past glory and tradition.
Earlier, Dr Ansari arrived here this morning from Delhi on a two-day maiden visit to Bihar.
He will travel to Bodhgaya tomorrow to visit the revered Mahabodhi temple before returning to the national capital.
