BJP leader condems police action in Pondy

Puducherry, Jun 11: Strongly condemning the police lathicharge on BJP activists and industrialists, who restored to a road blockade at Mettuppalayam here yestrerday, BJP national council member G Swaminathan said the attack was 'politically' motivated.

Addressing a press conference here today, Mr Swaminathan said the party would take up the matter with the National Human Rights Commission and the Women's Commission. Alleging that several women were assaulted by the police, he said it was a misuse of powers by the police. the BJP leader demanded that the Puducherry Government and Chief Minister own responsibility for the ugly incident.
