New Delhi, Jun 11: Strongly condemning the reported police firing on agitating farmers in Karnataka yesterday, the Congress today said the BJP was ruling the state through the bullet and celebrating its coming to power with farmers' blood.

The killing of a farmer and the injury to four others in the firing showed that the BJP was lusting for blood, AICC spokesman Manish Tiwari told reporters. Even when the results of the Karnataka assembly election were being declared about a fortnight ago, the BJP government in Rajasthan ordered firing on farmers which claimed the lives of 21 farmers. ''Is this the Gujarat model of development,'' Mr Tiwari wondered and took Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa to task for blaming the opposition for politicising the farmers' issue.

Even if some political party was behind the agitation, it did not give the BJP government the right to shoot down farmers, he said.
