Chandigarh, Jun 10 (UNI) The Haryana Labour Department has decided to organise a state level function on the occasion of 'World Day against Child Labour' at Panipat on June 12.
While stating this here yesterday, a spokesman of the department said that Labour and Employment Minister A C Chaudhary would be the chief guest on the occasion.
The theme of this year's 'World Day against Child Labour' was 'Education is the Right Response to Child Labour'.
He said the activities which would be carried out to commemorate the event, include seminars where eminent speakers would share their views on the problems related to child labour. Besides an enrollment drive in schools of the Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan to impart education to the 'freed' children would be launched and health camps for the medical check up of these children would also be organised.
The spokesman said initiatives for the abolition of child labour and provision of educational inputs for the released child labourers would also be taken up. All the departments including health, education, women and child development, revenue and police would also coordinate for the abolition of child labour and promoting rescue and rehabilitation of such children.
He said the state government was providing financial aid to different Non Government Organisations (NGO) under the welfare of street children scheme. Besides this, two children homes and two shelter homes had been set up under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act through Haryana State Council for Child Welfare in the state.
A state after-care home for boys had been set up at Sonipat.
Children in need of care and protection are provided facilities of boarding and education in these residential homes.
In addition to the state level function at Panipat, functions at district level would also be organised to observe this day all across the state.
