Patna, Jun 10 (UNI) Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today launched a new flood warning system-- Mobile Monitoring System(MMS) to save the state from perennial floods.
After launching the scheme, Mr Kumar told newspersons here that the new system would inform in detail about the flood situation and also send photoghraphs of the flood affected areas through MMS.
Outlining the multipronged strategies adopted by the government to control floods, he asked the authorities to upkeep the embankments in flood prone areas.
He directed them to be cautious in execution of flood control programmes, specially in dictricts like Muzaffarpur, Khagaria, Darbhanga and Bagha, while assuring to extend all financial help to check the devastation caused by the perennial floods.
Apart from uplinking the rivers, efforts were on to construct high dam in negotiation with Nepal, he informed.
He requested the Centre to carry forward the negotiations with Nepal for rescuing Bihar from the catastrophic floods.
