Chennai, Jun 10 (UNI) Opposition AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa today said the recent seizure of a huge haul of cartridges at suburban Gummidipoondi, vindicated her charge that Tamil Nadu has become an arms godown and urged the DMK government to restore law and order in the state.
In a statement here, she said incidents like the seizure of catridges, explosion of bombs and looting of arms from police stations, were frequently happening in the state, because of the soft attitude of DMK government towards terror outfits.
She said after an explosion, in which two boys were injured, near a Sri Lankan Tamil Refugees camp at suburban Gummidipoondi, police seized from a bush and disused pumpset house, 40 kg of catridges, used in AK 47 rifles.
After pumping out water from the nearby well, police recovered 15 more bags of cartridges, which had US marks, she said and condemned the Chief Minister for being soft towards the terrorist and extremist outfits.
It was a matter of regret that the State Police, which was equivalent to the standard of Scotland Yard police during her regime, has become useless and inactive after the DMK came to power in May 2006, she said.
