Raitha Sangha blames Karnataka Govt for fertiliser scarcity
Bangalore, Jun 10 (UNI) Squarely blaming the Karnataka Government for the present crisis arising out of shortage in the supply of fertilisers, the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) today threatened to launch statewide agitation if the Government failed to initiate immediate measures to solve the problem.
Addressing mediapersons here, KRRS State Working President Kodihalli Chandrashekhar said the farming community in the State was being 'cheated by all', including seed and fertiliser suppliers and the state government.
Alleging that the farmers in Hassan district had suffered crop loss due to supply of sub-standard potato seeds last year, he said no punitive action was initiated against those responsible.
The state government, which was responsible for ensuring adequate supply of fertilisers, had done 'nothing' in this direction, leading to shortage of agriculture inputs, he alleged.
''While there is shortage of branded fertiliser stock, the non-branded and adulterated stuff has flooded the market without any check,'' Mr Chandrashekhar charged.
He condemned the state government for using police force against the farmers, who were up in arms against the ''failure'' of the State Government.
