Police lathicharge medical students
Chennai, Jun 9 (UNI) Police today resorted to a lathicharge on students who were holding a protest at the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) here today on reservation of seats for in-service candidates.
Police here said a group of students who came to the Directorate to attend counselling for PG admissions, protested the DME's decision to reserve 50 per cent of the seats to in-service candidates.
The students later squatted on the road leading to traffic disruption.
Police rushed to the spot and resorted to a lathicharge to disperse the protesting students.
Students, who suffered injuries during the lathicharge, were taken to a hospital,they said.
