Bangalore, Jun 10: Squarely blaming the State government for the present crisis rising out of shortage in the supply of fertilisers, the Karantaka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) today threatened to launch state-wide agitation if government fails to take initiate immediate measures to solve the problem.
Addressing newspersons here today KRRS state working president Kodihalli Chandrashekhar has charged that the farming community in Karnataka were being 'cheated by all', including sowing seed and fertiliser suppliers and the state government. Alleging that the farmers in Hassan district had suffered crop loss due to supply of sub-standard Potato seeds last year, but no punitive actions initiated against those responsible.
The state government, which had the responsibility in ensuring adequate supply of fertiliser, had done 'nothing' in this direction leading to shortage of agriculture input. "While there is a shortage of branded fertiliser stock, the non-branded and adulterated stuff has flooded in the market without any check," he charged.
He said that KRRS would launch state-wide agitation if government fails to take action against the sale of sub-standard and adulterated seeds and fertiliser immediately. He also condemned the state government using brutal police force against the farmers who were up in arms against the failure of state government.
