Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 10 (UNI) Kerala Health Minister P K Sreemathy today said an Emergency Management System, aimed at providing timely medical assistance to people, who meet with accidents at the National and State Highways, would be introduced in the state soon.

Inaugurating the newly-formed Medical Services Corporation here, she said in the first phase, the system would be introduced from Ernakulam to Thiruvananthapuram this year.

Alleging that widespread irregularities and corruption had taken place in the purchase and distribution of medicines during the previous UDF regime, she said the probe into this matter was in the final stage and necessary action would be taken against the guilty after getting the probe report.

Ms Sreemathy claimed that formation of the Corporation was the first step by the government in making the purchase and distribution of medicines transparent.

The government would take all measures to ensure the quality of medicines, she said and added that steps would be taken to ensure quality of medicines in each stage.

If the existing facility in labs were not sufficient, new facilities would be introduced, she added.
