Kohima, Jun 10 (UNI) Nagaland Home Minister Imkong L Imchen has asserted that flush out operations to remove underground cadres from the populated areas in all the districts of Nagaland will be carried out soon for the safety and security of the citizens.
Mr Imchen said the peaceful flush out operations against the armed underground cadres from the civilian areas, which was taken up in Dimapur on June 6, would be continued in all the districts of Nagaland under the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), as given by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and the National Security Act (NSA), official sources said today.
The Home Minister was addressing a meeting of Kohima district administration, police officials, Gaon Burahs (GB) and Dobhasis (DB) here yesterday.
He added that there was a pressing need for restoring security to the people and protect their rights.
''The proposed operations are not targeted against any particular individual but rather in support of everyone to fulfill the wish of the people,'' the minister said.
He said the people wanted peace and reiterated his call for immediate cessation of all forms of intimidation, extortion, killing and violence.
He further reiterated that the 1951 plebiscite had not authorised the use of AK-47 assault rifles nor sanctioned the right to kill.
The Home Minister is scheduled to visit all the district headquarters of the state within this month to hold consultative meetings with the district administrations, police, GBs and DBs and the people to take the stock of the prevailing situation, the sources added.
