CPI (M), BJP to protest against oil price hike in Andaman
Port Blair, Jun 10 (UNI) The CPI(M) and the BJP will conduct a series of protest actions against the abnormal increase in petrol and diesel prices.
Secretary (in-charge) of CPI(M)'s Andaman unit, B Chandrachoodan, told UNI that the abnormal increase in the prices of petrol and diesel will have a cascading effect on the prices of all other commodities and services. The increase of Rs 50 per LPG cylinder is 'unprecedented' and needs to be condemned.
The BJP in Andaman had a meeting in Port Blair recently, where they had decided to protest the oil price hike.
''Most of the leaders of local BJP unit were in mainland India for National Executive meeting so till now there was no protest in the islands,'' party sources said.
Earlier, the CPI(M) and CITU had jointly organised a demonstration at Port Blair in protest against the recent hike in the petrol, diesel and LPG prices.
