Panaji, Jun 10 (UNI) All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary Shantaram Naik today ridiculed the state BJP leadership for launching a campaign against Governor S C Jamir.
''Has the opposition leader Mr Manohar Parrikar any moral right to make malicious and personal allegations against Mr Jamir, a distinguished public figure with vast political and social background, including being Parliamentary Secretary in Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's cabinet?'' Mr Naik, also a Rajya Sabha member from Goa, questioned.
The campaign needs to be treated with contempt, he said in a statement issued here.
Mr Shantaram termed the memorandum submitted by the Goa BJP delegation, led by leader of Opposition Mr Parrikar, to President Pratibha Devisingh Patil yesterday with 20 lakh signatures, as part of BJP's communal agenda.
''BJP was never known to take issues seriously and galvanize people in a bigger scale, except for the implementation of their communal agenda,'' he alleged.
BJP's only aim and objective in demanding removal of Mr Jamir is communal, inspired by hatred towards a particular community, Mr Naik said.
