Change of baton in Assam Rifles
Shillong, Jun 10 (UNI) Lt General Karan Singh Yadava today took over as the Director General of Assam Rifles during an impressive ceremony held at its headquarters here.
A statement issued today by PRO, Assam Rifles said the new DGAR is an alumnus of Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, and Senior Defence Management Course, College of Defence Management, Secunderabad.
He was commissioned into the Infantry (4th Battalion and 3rd Gorkha Rifles) in November, 1971, just before Bangladesh war.
Prior to his new appointment, Lt General Yadava was holding the prestigious appointment of Commandant, the Infantry School Mhow.
As a Brigadier, he was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal and Sena Medal for his foresight, planning and conduct of operations to bring in normalcy in terrorist-dominated areas in Jammu and Kashmir. He was also honoured with Ati Vishisht Seva Medal as a Division Commander in Assam.
Earlier, soon after his arrival, the Lt General was given a traditional Guard of Honour at the DGAR headquarters here.
