Brigadier Ravindranath takes over as Sub Area Commander
Bangalore, June 10 (UNI) Brigadier P S Ravindranath today took over as the Commander of Karnataka and Kerala Sub Area.
He took over from Brigadier Clement Samuel who was transferred to North East as Deputy General Officer Commanding of a Mountain Division at Sikkim, according to a release here.
Brigadier Ravindranath, before assuming the present post, was the Deputy General Officer Commanding of a Rashtriya Rifles Force in Jammu and Kashmir.
He was commissioned into the Fifth Battalion of the First Gurkha Rifles in June 1976. He had served in all field areas with the unit insurgencies in Nagaland, Assam and J and K, a high altitude area as part of Indian Peace Keeping Force in Sri Lanka before commanding the unit in 1995 to 97.
He was awarded 'Sena Medal' in 2008 for distinguished service, while commanding 10 Sector Assam Rifles during 2005-06 in combating insurgency and overall excellence in effective management of the environment in a part of Manipur.
