Ultra-low power Microcontrollers launched in India
Hyderabad, June 9 (UNI) Texas Instruments India today announced the launch of a breakthrough generation of ultra-low power microcontrollers, MSP430F5xx that can aid thousands of applications in fields such as medical, security, consumer goods and home automation.
These microcontrollers would offer 50 per cent more processing performance and 100 per cent improvement in memory, compared to previous generations ones. This would help electronic equipment manufacturers to offer products that consume little power, thereby increasing the battery life and offering lower operational cost, a company release here said.
Texas Instruments India Business Development Manager Shailesh Thakurdesai said ''the Indian Analog semiconductor market is estimated to be worth 437 million Dollar by 2009. Texas Instruments India, with over 40,000 products, has the largest product portfolio to tap this growing market. We expect this new generation of microcontrollers to make a big impact in the Indian electronics industry.'' This new generation of microcontrollers would particularly help in the development of portable devices across industry segments. It would significantly enhance the performance of devices like panel metres, 3-phase metres, UPS and inverters, LED lighting, portable ultrasound scanners, electronic thermometers, wind and solar power generators, surveillance equipment in public buildings, electronic baggage scanners and radio frequency identification devices (RFID).
