Talks underway to resolve MACTA issue
Kochi, June 9 (UNI) Conciliatory talks between the warring factions of the Malayalam Cine Technicians Association (MACTA) Federation under the auspices of the Indian Film Employees Confederation (IFEC) and South India Film Employees Confederation are underway here.
Speaking to reporters here, IFEC President S Vijayan said '' I am hopeful of finding an amicable solution and expect the smooth functioning of the Malayalam film industry.'' Meanwhile, 15 more directors, including Sibi Malayil and Roshan Andrews, resigned from the Federation. Yesterday, the Federation had confirmed the resignations of six directors.
The fissures in the Federation, an apex body of 19 unions of the Malayalam film industry, widened after it decided on Wednesday not to cooperate with actor Dileep's forthcoming film directed by Siddique, resulting in difference of opinion between Siddique and Federation General Secretary Vinayan. Vinayan had also criticised Dileep for violating professional ethics by refusing to act in a movie directed by Tulasidas.
