Smoke emits from dry lake

Shivpuri, MP, June 9 (UNI) In a srange incident, a dry lake in this drought-hit district's Pichhor area has been emitting smoke which reduced when water was sprinkled over it, official sources said today.

Pichhor Sub Divisional Magistrate J P Mishra today said that Motisagar lake dried due to three successive droughts in the area and smoke was found emitting from one of the cracks yesterday.

''A water tanker was brought and water was put in the crack after which the emission was redcued,'' he said.

Mr Mishra said that probably a spark might have spread to the wood, buried under the lake, and caused the smoke. Any other cause may not be denied.

''If necessary geologists would be informed about the incident,'' Mr Mishra added.

A crowd gathered around the lake to see the strange incident.
