Satinder Sharma for Men's Hockey Champions Trophv

Chandigarh, Jun 9 (UNI) International Grade-I umpire Satinder Sharma, has been appointed by the Federation of International Hockey (FIH) for the 30th Men's Champions Trophy Hockey Tournament being held at Rotterdam (Netherlands) from June 21 to 29.

This will be Satinder's fifth assignment in the Champions Trophy, a rare achievement.

Satinder is the only Indian umpire on elite panel of FIH and has the unique distinction of having supervised matches in almost all international level hockey tournaments/championships organised under the aegis of the FIH. These tournaments include Junior World Cups at Hobart, Australia in 2001 and Rotterdam, Netherlands in 2005, Senior Men's World Cups at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2002 and Monchenglabach, Germany, 2006, Busan Asian Games, Korea, Olympic and World Cup Qualifiers and Main Olympics at Athens.

Satinder is likely to cross the century mark in the ensuing Champions Trophy and Beijing Olympics,for which too he has already receive the appointment from the FIH.
