Srinagar, June 9 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet today approved the appointment of Finance Commissioner, Home, S S Kapur as new Chief secretary of the State.
Mr Kapur replaced B R Kundal, who has been inducted in the Congress led coalition government in the state.
An official spokesman said the State Cabinet, which met here under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad approved the appointment of Mr Kapur, who has joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1974 after graduating in Civil Engineering from the Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh. While in service, he has also acquired a PG Diploma in Population and Development (1993-94) and MBA (1996-97).
He said the Cabinet also approved several postings of senior bureaucrats in the state.
It also approved the posting of Ms Taveera Jahan as Secretary to Government Cooperative Department, and posting of Mr Ravi Thusoo as Secretary to Government Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department.
