Power supply to be restored shortly: Raman

Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, Jun 9 (UNI) Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh today said three power generating towers, which were damaged by the Naxals and created blackout in the 3,000 villages of Bastar divison, would be restored soon.

Dr Singh told the reporters here that the towers had been reinstalled, while two phases of this work had been completed.

He did not mention the time limit, but enusred that the affected areas would start getting the electricity.

''Arrangement of Rs 38 crore was made to lay out the electricity line of 160 km from Kanker to here,'' he said.

Dr Singh also inspected Bodali area, 12 km from Dantewada district where insurgents damaged 220 KV hightension towers on June 5.

The Naxal menace led to blackout not only here but in Dantewada, Bijapur and Narayanpur districts. Administration took the help of generators to restore the necessary services.

''The solar energy generation projects are also in progress in naxal-affected Bastar regions,'' Dr Singh added.
