Srinagar, Jun 9 (UNI) Describing Kashmir as heaven on earth, the Madhya Pradesh Governor Dr Balram Jakhar said Kashmiri people were peace-loving, who always stood for strengthening the bonds of brotherhood, amity and communal harmony across the state.
However, he said, peace was must for all-round development of the society.
Inaugurating the first ever four-day Rural Health Mela at village Dangarpora, Sopore, about 55 km from here in north Kashmir yesterday under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) Dr Jakhar said it was endeavour of both state and central governments to restore complete peace, progress and tranquility of the state.
Appreciating the role of the state government for upgradation of basic facilities to the people, he said Jammu and Kashmir was marching fast towards prosperity under all sectors.
Dr Jakhar also Said Kashmir was famous for its natural beauty and hospitality all over the world.
If there is heaven on the earth it is in Kashmir, he said and added that the state has a great tourism potential About 4000 patients were provided treatment on the opening day of the four-day mela.
All modern diagnostic and treatment facilities with, services of 50 specialist medicos, 150 para-medicos and other necessary staff, free medicines worth Rs eight lakh have been kept available for the ailing visitors of the area in the mela.
