Jewellery shop looted in Chandni Chowwk

New Delhi, Jun 9 (UNI) In a major heist, a jewellery shop in the capital's business hub Chandni Chowk was looted of valuables worth lakhs.

The owner of the shop Vinod Gupta found the shutters of the shop broken this morning when he came to open the shop.

Mr Gupta had closed his shop on Saturday night and had come to open the shop this morning as the market remains off on Sundays.

According to the police Mr Gupta found the shutters of the shop in Dariba Kalan, under Kotwali police station, broken as he came to open the shop today.

Mr Gupta said he found the locks of the shutter broken and goods inside the shop scattered and reported the matter to the police at about 1100 hrs.

However, the estimate of total valuables stolen, including gems and jewellery, have yet to be ascertained.

A case has been registered and investigations are on, police added.
