Inflation to reach double digit figure by month end: Rajnath
Mumbai, Jun 9 (UNI) BJP president Rajnath Singh today said inflation would reach double digit figures by the end of this month, as it has already touched 8.24 per cent last week.
''Inflation had reached the double digit figure in June 1993, when Dr Manmohan Singh was the finance minister and today he is the Prime Minister,'' Mr Singh observed, while talking to mediapersons here.
The fuel prices have been raised nine times in last four years, he said, suggesting that the Prime Minister should convene a meeting of Chief Ministers to discuss the issue of state duty and lowering of VAT.
He did not agree with the argument of the UPA that the government is facing hostile situation at the international level.
''During the NDA regime, we faced many such situations during the Kargil war and after pokhran II test, but never did such a situation come up,'' he said.
''There is economic slowdown and there should have been a comprehensive action plan to tackle the same which is not seen,'' Mr Singh said.
