Heavy rains in Shimla
Shimla, Jun 9 (UNI) Heavy rains lashed Shimla town and other adjoining areas since last night, throwing normal life out of gear in the state capital.
Shimla town recorded 80.3 mm rains in last 24 hrs with the town recording 25.5 mm overnight rains followed by 26.8 mm up to 1430 hrs and another 28 mm rain up to 1730 hrs.
However, the clouds thinned out by the evening and the sun was shinning brightly much to the delight of the tourists and locals.
The met office said the famous tourist resort of Dharamshala in Kangra district recorded 46.8 mm rains during the last 24 hrs with the town recording 37.8 mm overnight rains.
Mandi town also experienced 35.2 mm rains during the same period.
Meanwhile, the day temperatures across the state fell by a few degrees following rain with the maximum temperature at Shimla declining by a degree to stand at 21.5 degrees.
The day temperatures at Sundernagar, Bhuntar, Kalpa and Dharamshala also fell to 30.5, 30.6, 20.9 and 28.4 degree Celsius respectively, the met office said.
However, the state capital recorded a night temperature of 14.3 degrees as compared to 14.1 degree Celsius recorded yesterday, while Sundernagar, Bhuntar, Kalpa and Dharamshala recorded temperatures of 20.3, 19.3, 10 and 15.3 degree Celsius respectively.
The met office said the minimum temperature at Una stood at 23.7, 23.6 at Nahan, 21 at Mandi, 12.9 at Keylong, 18 at Solan and 17.5 degrees at Palampur in Kangra district.
The met office has forecast rain and thundershowers at isolated places in the state during the next 24 hrs.
