Former Pakistani diplomats call for Musharraf's impeachment
Islamabad, Jun 9 (UNI) Former Pakistani envoys and foreign secretaries have termed President Pervez Musharraf as an unconstitutional president and called for his impeachment.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad last evening, a group of former envoys and secretaries said ''Musharraf is an unconstitutional president. He should not be allowed to flee from the country.'' The former envoys and secretaries included Riaz Khokhar, Akram Zaki, Dr S M Qureshi, Shamshad Ahmad Khan, Asif Ahmad, Saleem Nawaz and Dr Sami Ullah Qureshi.
Stating that UN investigation into assassination of Benazir Bhutto was not in the national interest, they said, ''It will not only put existence of the country into jeopardy but will also lead to investigation into our nuclear assets.'' ''We fully support the June 10 long march by lawyers and will participate in it. All the deposed judges including Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry must be reinstated through an executive order. We strongly condemn November 3, 2007 steps that led to imposition of emergency and sacking of judges,'' they noted.
