Explosives seized in AP
Visakhapatnam, Jun 9 (UNI) A special team of the Andhra Pradesh police today unearthed a huge cache of ammunition, including a large number of land mines, 20 coupled bombs, eight pipe bombs, 70 detonators, nine soap bombs and a wire of 1,000 metre in length, at Gunukuraya village of the G K Veedhi Mandal in this district.
Congratulating the police team at the District Police Office here, District Superintendent of Police Dr Akun Sabharwal said the coupled bombs were found to be used by the Maoists for the first time.
The Maoists were actually not fighting a battle for the cause of the poor, but were harming the lives of the villagers around, the SP said.
He further said that intensive combing operations would continue in the Andhra Orissa border region in the coming days.
