Dharwad, Karnataka, June 9(UNI) Three buses were set on fire and over twenty damaged when agitating farmers resorted to violence protesting against inadequate supply of seeds and fertilizer here today.
Farmers who staged road blockade(rasta roko) for over four hours took to violence and started pelting stones. They also tried to loot private fertilizer shops in the city.
Police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the agitating farmers.
Meanwhile, Senior Janata Dal (Secular) leaders Basavaraj Horatti and P C Siddangoudar staged dharna in front of Rani Channamma Circle at Hubli for over two hours disrupting the vehicular traffic.
Tension continued to prevail in Dharwad near Jubilee Circle with farmers pelting stones at the police.
Additional forces have been rushed to the spot as a precautionary measure, police said.
