Six women held for theft
New Delhi, Jun 8 (UNI) Police claimed today to have arrested six women red handed while they were fleeing after stealing cash from a businessman.
Usha aged 25 years, Anita 30 years old, Sheetal 25, Arti 20, Rekha and Manisha both 40 years old were caught red handed by the police while they were fleeing after stealing cash from a businessman in the area.
Police said Pramod Tiwari resident of Shastri Nagar took an RTV from Fawwara Chowk for Gandhi Nagar. One of the accused sat near him on the pretext of being sick and stole Rs 80,000 from his bag.
After the crime they alighted near Yamuna Bazaar.
Meanwhile, when Pramod checked his bag and found the cash missing he too deboarded the bus and shouted for help. The accused women in order to ward him off threw some cash on ground thereby tempting bystanders to pick it.
Hearing the commotion, Head Constable Ramkishan and Constable Dharamveer deputed at the Kashmiri Gate picket nearby rushed to the spot and apprehended all six women and recovered Rs 55,730 of the stolen cash.
