'Sangharsh' alleges back-door appointments in Jammu varsity
Jammu, Jun 8 (UNI) 'Sangharsh', an organisation of research scholars and students body, today alleged that more than 150 back-door appointments have been made in the last few years in the Jammu University.
In a statement here, 'Sangharsh' alleged absolute favouritism in extensions, promotions and anomalies in the process of appointments have taken place in University of Jammu.
''The Jammu University (JU) authorities have created an environment where talent and intellect hardly matter,'' members of 'Sangharsh' alleged asserting, ''One should have a personal equation and the strength of appeasement with those at the helm of affairs to get appointed to the University of Jammu.'' However, they also alleged that a few lecturers have been promoted supreseding deserving applicants in a short span of time.
''A number of administrative positions including those of registrar, DCD, Director Distance Education will be filled on permanent basis by people close to higher authorities,'' the Sangharsh members alleged.
The members have appealed to the Chancellor of Jammu University, Jammu and Kashmir Governor Lt Gen (retd) S K Sinha to order a judicial probe into the matter.
