Jalandhar, Jun 8 (UNI) For the youth of Bholath constituency, a Health-Mela was organised by Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira today at his native Ramgarh village in Kapurthala district, which was presided over by Rajya Sabha MP Dharampal Sabharwal.
In a release issued here this evening, the MLA stated that as many as 63 multi-purpose health machines were distributed to Youth Services Clubs registered in the constituency.
Mr Khaira said that he had motivated the youth of his area to shun drugs and to take to sports activity and with this purpose, he had got these clubs registered with the Youth Services Department of the Government.
Mr Khaira said that during previous assembly elections, he had promised to distribute multi-purpose health machines in all of the 130 villages of his constituency, to create awareness amongst the youth to focus their energy towards good health so that the youth could free themselves from the clutches of drugs.
Mr Khaira said that during last year, he had distributed 33 such machines from his own pocket. The cost of today's 63 machines was borne by MP Dharampal Sabharwal from his MPLAD funds.
Mr Sabharwal, who was the Chief Guest at the function, lauded the efforts of Mr Khaira in motivating the youth in such a large numbers to shun drugs and take to body building.
Mr Khaira further claimed he had now motivated the remaining 25 villages and had got their youth clubs also registered and that he would very shortly hold another 'Health- Mela' and distribute machines to these 25 villages also, so that his constituency could be covered 100 per cent under this scheme.
