London, Jun 8 : British singer Melanie Brown is in talks with X Factor bosses to replace former judge Sharon Osbourne on the show, according to reports.
The 33-year-old is at the moment negotiating with bosses for a 500,000 pounds deal, beating Cheryl Cole and Charlotte Church to the job. The announcement, regarding Brown becoming one of the judges on the show, will be made later in the week, when filming and auditions for the new series begins.
"Mel's in pole position to join the judging panel. She's ideal and Simon Cowell is eager for her to join the team," News Of the World quoted a senior source from the show as confirming.
The requirement of a new judge came up after Osbourne sensationally quit the ITV1 hit this week after snubbing a new deal for the fifth series.
"Sharon was offered more money but decided not to take it," the source added.
