Kannur, Kerala, June 8 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today launched 'Malayalam Computing scheme', a new IT initiative with the objective of enabling the common man to use Internet facility in his mother tongue.
Inaugurating the project here, the Chief Minister expressed hope that in three years, about 50 lakh people in the State would be well versed with Malayalam computing.
Mr Achuthanandan said the project 'our computer our language', jointly conceived by the Kerala IT Mission and Akshaya, would be carried out through the Akshaya centres.
Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, who inaugurated the computing site, said the public in future could lodge their complaints through e-mail and necessary provisions in this regard would be brought in soon. Within one year, all the police stations in the State would be computerised, he added.
IT Secretary Ajay Kumar said the aim of such a project was to create a Malayalam web portal in every panchayat in the State.
