Judges counselling reunites a couple in Tripura
Agartala, Jun 8 (UNI) An estranged couple has finally been reunited by three subsequent counsellings by two judges of Guwahati High Court, Agartala bench, resulting in the petitioner accepting the ruling and settling the long-pending divorce case.
Shambhu Saha, a school teacher of Udaipur, south Tripura, had filed a case against his wife Swapna Saha two years after their marriage, seeking divorce following marital dispute after the birth of their son.
Ms Saha was not in favour of separation but the lower court judgement did not support her. Finally, she filed a writ petition in a double bench of Guwahati High Court, Agartala, counter-challenging the lower court's verdict.
However, the division bench of the High Court, comprising Justices H N Sharma and A Putsangbos, refused to proceed the case after hearing the petitioner's statement and rather suggested to organise counselling for the couple.
Three consecutive counsellings by the judges, along with a psychologist, finally convinced the parties and the couple went home yesterday.
