Four killed, three injured in road accident
Gangtok, June 8 (UNI) At least four people were killed and three others injured early this morning when the vehicle they were travelling in slipped several hundred feet down a turning at MP Golai here.
Three girls and a boy who was driving the vehicle were killed in the accident, police said. The injured were admitted to the nearby Central Referral Hospital. All the occupants were students in the age group of 21 to 25 years, the police added.
They were proceeding towards Jalipool, some 20 kms away from Gangtok, when the vehicle could not negotiate the sharp bend at MP Golai and plunged down the hill.
Incidentally, a taxi had also slipped down the same road few hours before the students' mishap. The taxi was, however, saved by a tree some 50 feet down the road and two of its occupants were pulled out safely by the Army and local people.
