Jaunpur, June 8 (UNI) Soon after union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) address to senior cops across the country through video conferencing to check growing naxalism, the police would be equipped with explosion proof vehicles in naxal-affected Mirzapur, Chandauli and Sonebhadra districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Addressing newspersons here today, Inspector General of Police (IG) (Varanasi zone) Praveen Kumar Singh said ''the police force of naxal-infested districts in the state would be equipped with both explosion proof vehicles and mordern weapons.'' Besides, the sleuths would be provided equipment that would assist them in damaging explosives, the IG added.
''The policemen have been asked to indulge in encounter only under rare condition...the naxals need to be dealt with concern and positive approach,'' Mr Singh noted.
Even, the government was attempting to generate employment and provide improved health, education and basic facilities to youth in Mirzapur, Chandauli and Sonebhadra districts, the IG informed.
Earlier, on May 23, MHA's special secretary M L Kumawat had addressed senior policemen across the country through video conferencing to tackle the naxalite menace.
The senior official had discussed extortion and advised ways to deal with the menace.
In UP, the conferencing took place with Additional Director General of Police (ADG) (Crime, law and order and STF) Brij Lal, Inspector General of Police (IG) (law and order) Bhanu Pratap Singh and other senior level policemen.
This initiative of video conferencing was taken up at the Centre to address growing naxalism.
