BJP leaders propose Ram Naik's candidature
Mumbai, Jun 8 (UNI) The leaders of the saffron alliance today took an opportunity to propose the candidature of senior BJP leader and former Union minister Ram Naik from north Mumbai Lok Sabha constituency for the general elections due next year.
Mr Naik, who was MP from this constituency from 1989 to 2004, today published a booklet of his works that he had done for the past four years even though he was not the MP.
BJP president Rajnath Singh was present on the occasion.
All the leaders from BJP-Sena, including Manohar Joshi and Gopinath Munde spoke in favour of his candidature. Mr Singh did not announce his candidature, but said there would be no problem for the same.
Mr Naik was defeated by cine star and Congress candidate Govinda in 2004.
Mr Singh in his speech lambasted the Left for being more close to foreign countries and also criticised the Congress for being communal.
There should not be any discrimination on the basis of language, caste and creed, he added.
