Amphibian warfare training centre to come up near Kakinada
Kakinada, Jun 8 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Defence M M Pallam Raju today said an 'Amphibian warfare training' centre would shortly come up along the beach road on the outskirts of the city in East Godavari District in Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to newspersons, after inaugurating district level training centre of the District Water Management Agency (DWMA) at Suryaraopet here, he said separate 'jetties' would be constructed for stationing the Coast Guard vessels near the port and the required permission was already accorded to the coast guard.
The Minister said the Government had cleared the 'geo-tube technology' scheme at a cost of Rs 12.16 crore, to prevent the perennial problem of soil erosion due to tidal waves at Uppada Kothapalli, a coastal village near here.
Once the geo-tube is laid, Mr Raju said, the two km stretch of road would be protected from the recurring problem of soil erosion.
Sampara MLA Anisetti Bullebbai Reddy said a minor port would also come up soon near Perumallapuram, exclusively for the industrial units coming up in Kakinada SEZ.
