Guwahati, Jun 7 (UNI) Assam will be virtually shutdown on June 9 with three simultaneous bandhs called on the same day on separate issues, ranging from price rise to demand for capital punishment against Ripun Bora.
The All Assam Tea Tribes Students' Association (AATTSA) had called the bandh demanding death penalty for Bora for his alleged involvement in the murder of former AATTSA leader Daniel Topno in 2000.
Bora was arrested in New Delhi on June 3 while offering bribe of Rs 10 lakh to a CBI sleuth investigating the political murder, in which the Congress leader is a suspect.
Meanwhile, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and BJP have also separately called for 12-hour statewide bandhs on Monday.
They are protesting the sharp rise in prices of essential commodities and rise in prices of petrol, diesel and LPG.
