Seven officials of IPCL booked in blast case
Alibaug, Raigadh district, Jun 7 (UNI) Seven officials of the Reliance Industries-owned IPCL have been booked in connection with yesterday's blast at the petrochemical manufacturing plant at Nagothane in Raigadh district of Maharashtra.
According to Alibaug district police control room, criminal cases have been registered under section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), against the officials including RIL - Nagothane President S R Yadwadkar. They have not yet been arrested.
The other officials include Vice-President (technical), Plant Manager, Plant Supervisor, Safety Supervisor, and owner and supervisor of CN Enterprises, the company engaged by IPCL for the maintenance work, police said.
The accident occurred yesterday at 1120 hrs when the hydrocarbon and welding gas came into contact in the plant, leading to a fire in a section of the LLDPE plant's unit number two, which sparked-off the explosion.
