Sahara India faces jolt

Lucknow, Jun 7 (UNI) Fancied Sahara India was thrashed by Indian Oil in the second match of the pool 'B'of the 56th Sahara city Homes Sheesh Mahal Cricket tournament by 6 wickets here today.

In the other league match of the tournament Rizvi Builders registered their second win in as many encounters, beating Colombo Colts Sri Lanka by 5 wickets. With this win they earned 5 points including one bonus point.

The team from Sri Lanka was virtually out of the competition and it's last league match, to be played tomorrow against Indian Oil would be mere a formality.

At the K D Singh Babu stadium Sahara India-batting first, were all out in 38.1 overs scoring 200 on the board, the hero of their previous encounter Dinesh Kartik emerged triumphant again by scoring 43, which was the highest for his team, besides international star of the Bangladeshi team Mohd Rafiq also contributed 29 runs.

In defence of 200 runs, the home team played attacking game and at one stage they successfully removed four India Oil batsmen at the score of 120, however, they took the rival team lightly which proved fatal to them. Sensing the precarious situation the local lad Ravikant Shukla, who scored 54 not out, tackle the position smartly tickling first the score board with singles and twos and then hit big blows, he struck 15 runs in one over of Laxmi Ratan Shukla, who bowled spin instead of his regular medium pace.

Ravi Kant and Manader Phadke (35) reached the victory target with nine balls to spare.

In the other match at the chowk stadium Rizvi Builders beat Colombo Colts by 5 wickets which fetched them five points.

The Colombo Colts team won the toss and elected to bat first.

After a study, though slow start, the team managed only 154 runs 4 deliveries short of full quota of 40 overs.

In reply the Rizvi Builders team romped home after 26 overs lossing only five wickets, skipper Prashant Gupta struck unbeaten 65.
