Mangalore, June 7 (UNI) South West monsoon rain lashing Mangalore and Udupi Districts disrupted normal life today.
While one house was partially damaged in Mangalore, 12 houses were fully damaged in Udupi District, official sources told UNI.
The through traffic in the city between Mangalore and Udupi on the national highway was completely disrupted for over two hours as the rain water gushing on the road due to absence of storm water drain mainly caused due to ongoing four-lane work.
The office-goers and school children were seen frantically making the way to reach their destinations.
Meanwhile, the sea erosion had further become severe today from Chota Mangalore to Someshwar particularly at Ullal, Kotepura and Mogaveerapatna areas on the outskirt of the city here threatening vegetation and coconut trees which are likely to uproot at any moment. Heavy waves were hitting the sea shore damaging the asphalted road at some stretches.
